A security technology that replaces sensitive data (like a card number) with a non-sensitive “token” – a randomly generated string of characters. serviceminder|pay and serviceminder use tokenization for stored payment methods. For example, when a customer’s card is saved, the actual card number is stored securely by the processor, and serviceminder only keeps a token. Tokenization greatly reduces risk because a stolen token is useless without the secure token vault.
